‘Buika’, The First of my Influence Posts. Jazz, Flamenco, Latin, Fusion
The first of the musical influence posts. I’ll keep these short, so you can listen to the music and maybe go diving through yourself.
‘Loca’ was the first track I found from Buika. I was hooked on the section with the vocal chants (about 1.35), I looped and studied a lot of this track.

How The Creation of My Latest Album Began
The first seeds were planted after I made the soundtrack for our Order Materia ‘Journey to the Source’ film. It was a very freeing process that I think was enhanced by the specifications or the lack of ‘rules’. It’s over 9 minutes and has several chapters, open to bpm changes and multiple genre switches. Around this time I watched this video, Hans Zimmer’s talking about his work on Dune, which aligned with these thoughts - an exploration of sound, very much grounded in human input. We’re talking techniques of compressing individual vowels, whole houses set up as instruments… and it looks like he’s having fun.

The Start Of A New Painting Series

I knew the following morning these lived scenes would become paintings.

Photographing The Sky
When I first finished university, I started filming the sky. 10 minutes each day, not in a regularly repeated orientation, just finding nice framing and seeing it change. I can't remember how long this lasted, might have been around a few months, but I came to the conclusion that it was a waste of time and if I wanted to look at the sky... I should just look at the sky.

Why You Should Make a SoundCloud Account To Upload Your Finished Tracks Early
I see this as a mindset/attitude growth tool. You have to set them as public for the benefits. I think the main ones are -

How do I know when my work has enough elements?
When I first started I had a tendency to want to include everything. When things are new you want to play with and show off all your toys. Looking at it now, this might be a necessary part of learning.

The Benefits of Using Your Real Name As Your Artist Name
There’s something powerful about making art that enters the world as yourself. Once again, I found this through music. I think if I had begun making and releasing under an alias, I would never have connected with creation in a meaningful manner. I feel it’s a threshold I passed and can now manifest it in other mediums.

Trust your instincts — Introduction to my thoughts and lessons on the artistic creation process
Many of these thoughts and lessons have come through music, but after noting a few of them down it seems they are mostly about the general creation process and artist thought, rather than any specific medium.
